Airyoga..... Namaste in your hammock

Sorry for the poor quality of photo's. All I thought to bring was my standard iphone and the lighting in the studio wasn't very favourable. Last week I was invited to come along to the Airspace studio in Leedervile to partake in the airyoga beginners class. I had always wanted to try airyoga but never had to the guts to go by myself... In fear of making a complete idiot of myself.  What's betters than having a friend or two to try new things with, and have a few laughs in the process?

I did a bit of research on Airspace before I left.  The team consists of a previous Circus Aerialist, a physiotherapist and a movement specialist. Each have amazing backgrounds and stories to tell, and each have a different contribution to add to the business.  Perfect.

I may have come a little late due to a quick toilet break before class started (really not my style.... Or maybe it is something I need to work on in 2015 - time management 101) so I quickly whisked in after finally finding the place. My hammock was hoisted up nice and high to deal with my lanky legs. And I was taught how to sit in my hammock properly, and that was where the awkward giraffe like movements began.  We had movement in the hammock, we lunged, we swung, we learnt how to turn upside down and learnt how to move into a bat like pose (completely upside down encased in the hammock like Count Dracula).  Not to mention it was also a crazy workout on the arms and on the abdominals also.  I walked out of there sweating like I had run a few kilometres, but I had felt calm and had a lot of fun too.

Possibly after my travels I might go back to Airspace, and continue my yogi journey of a different sort.  However for now, I think I will stay put on the ground.

The Margaret River Bakery - A hipsters paradise in the heart of Margs

Matt and I didn't intend on buying any food besides the odd winery or brewery meal as we wanted to save as much money as possible, especially with our trip to Bali in the coming weeks, and I sort of have a 2 month trip to America to fund shortly after that.

BUUUUUT I couldn't resist The Margaret River Bakery. At first without even taking a glance at the funky decor and earthy vibes I was just bloody hungry and a sausage roll or meaty pie would have done the trick.  But as we got closer I noticed the vintage couches, the coloured tyres where dogs could be left with a water bowl in the shade, artistically painted walls and all around good vibes... I mean the place was packed to the brim which always means good things are about to take place on my taste buds!

We managed to scam a spot around the corner, away from the hustle and bustle (seriously in any other case this may have been off putting, but i loved the look of the place and it didn't even phase me) on some vintage couches under a blossoming tree.

It was a walk up and order kind of place, which gave it a casual vibe and the girls working behind the till and behind the scenes were cool, calm and polite - not showing an inch of stress which mean the customer service was great which I feel is sometimes very hard to find in Perth.

We ended up ordering;

-Avocado and Goats Cheese Bruschetta
&
-Canadian Style French Toast with copious amounts of bacon
&
I couldn't resist a large piece of Caramel Slice (I have a problem)

In all, the portion sizes were massive (we share  the meals and still couldn't finish either of our plates and that is saying something as we both aren't shy when it comes to food quantity), both meals were uber tasty and we walked out of the cafe ready for the days events with a satisfied bellies.  The only downfall I had with the food and this is just because I am a caramel slice snob - is the base of the slices as a little too crumbly, and the chocolate covering could have been either really runny like a ganache or crunchy chocolate.  It kind of toed the line of the two.

I would recommend The Margaret River Bakery to anyone that is planning to enjoy a Southwest getaway.

Sorry for the photo quality - all I had was a trusty iphone.. Doh.

A trip away to get the bugs away (YALLINGUP, WESTERN AUSTRALIA)

For my first post, I will keep it a little close to home: well about 3 hours 15 minutes to be exact. I have been a little under the weather the last couple of weeks, not really feeling myself. I have been told to slow down and take a break (and probably a good thing after one of the most epic summers of my life and a constant FIFO job opportunity to go with it).  Plus I love spending time with this guy - would could be as perfect at cheese, wine and bundling up with this him. Bliss.

So Matt and I decided to head down to the South West of Australia and chill out for the long weekend - le Party Animals! It was a hard choice to leave a rowdy weekend full of constant bbq's and parties with best friends but I am a firm believer in looking after number 1 (yourself, silly!) in many circumstances in life. This was one.

We stayed at the Sienna Lodge, a cute cottage style townhouse hotel that is attached to a small winery and considering we got a last minute deal on booking.com it was a more than reasonable price they had to offer for our three nights over a long weekend.  Not only was it just a few km's up the road from some of the main breweries in Margaret River - Cheeky Monkey, Bootleg Brewery and Duckstein (in which we enjoyed Cheeky Monkey and Duckstein on the Sunday), it was also a short drive to the Margaret River Chocolate Factory and Fonti Farm (in whichever we indulged in copious amounts of Triple Cream Brie, Sweet Chilli Cheddar and Smoked Cheddar, and of course had generous serving of chocolate bud samples at the factory), AND we were a literal 5 minute drive from Smiths beach and the beautiful Canal Rocks. I would recommend to anyone travelling down South to stay at the Sienna Estate Lodge and explore our beautiful southwest - Augusta, Bridgetown, Yallingup, Margaret River, Dunsborough, Busselton and everything else in between!

Excuse my obsession with my new fisheye lens. Something about the lens gives me a timeless memory of that moment and time in the picture, and I haven't taken it off my SLR yet.

Next travelling adventure is just around the corner (next week!!)
Destination: Bali, Indonesia - BAGUS!!

Till next adventure,
